California's Egg-Farm Law Prompts a Push for National Standards
Stuart Pfeifer reports in Sunday's Los Angeles Times, that California's good egg law-- Proposition 2 that was passed by a wide margin in 2008 requiring chicken farmers to give their chickens enough wing-spreading and standing room--is trying to go national. In a rare move, the Humane Society and egg ranchers are joining forces to demand that standards be set for all national egg ranches, not just those in California.
